This role offers a basic competitive salary + 25 days holiday, Pension and a 35 hour working week

Responsible for:
Design, design engineers and product liaison

This is a diverse role in an established forward thinking engineering/manufacturing company. An interesting and varied position, you'll be working on a range of projects from vehicle and component test to civil simulation, including vibration test and servo control.

You'll work as part of an established team designing from client briefs and specifications, managing the workflow through the department and playing a significant part in each technically challenging project.

You will use your significant mechanical design and team leading/management experience to enable the design team to create the layout of equipment and the details with drawings and bill of materials, working in tandem with project, electrical engineering and manufacturing teams.

The Candidate
mechanical design experience as well as a solid senior, team lead background. You'll have a broad mechanical design background, such as heavy plant, fabrications, hydraulic machinery, welded structures, special purpose machinery, bespoke machined parts, pipework, pumps etc.

* Excellent communication skills
* Capable of leading a mechanical design team
* Proficient in SolidWorks
* Preferable to have experience designing hydraulic equipment/systems

Main Duties and Accountability's
● Leading Mechanical Design Engineers working on new design projects for bespoke testing systems.
● Lead development and improvement of existing actuators, hydraulic manifolds, motion platforms and fixtures.
● Creating and managing mechanical system hydraulic circuit designs.
● Checking, taking an overview and signing off all designs produced by the team using Solidworks or CAD.
● Training design team
● Developing relationships with external suppliers and customers.
● improve efficiency
● Modelling of hydraulic components

Person Specification
● Ideally, degree level or similar with experience of design and managing a design team.
● An industrial, aerospace, motorsport or automotive background designing hydraulic systems.
● Knowledge of modelling techniques, FEA and Solidworks
